In conjunction with National Day and its 25th Anniversary, Astro is celebrating by launching a dedicated channel known as Astro 25 on Channel 100. The channel features exclusive Malaysian and Asian entertainment, including premieres, blockbuster hits as well as new documentaries. From 16 August to 3 October, all Astro subscribers can tune in to the channel on Astro TV, On Demand and Astro GO (available on Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei App Gallery).

Some of the new titles that are set to premiere on the Astro 25 channel include the “Tanah Tumpahnya Darah Kita” documentary airing on 16 September, the “We Are No Different” documentary set to air on 13 September, as well as the “Journey To Stardom” series coming on 1 September. There will also be an All Together Now Astro 25 Special as well. Apart from new releases, viewers can also catch other memorable Malaysian films including Ola Bola, Polis Evo, Ombak Rindu, Dukun, Si Tanggang and many more.

Astro Radio will also be joining in the celebration by curating a special line up of top 25 Malaysian tracks and favourite hits across its stations which can be accessed on the SYOK app (available on Apple Store, Google Play Store and Huawei App Gallery). Furthermore, the RAAGA station will also organise a 90-minute virtual concert on Merdeka Day on its Facebook page.

Astro has come a long way since starting out as a satellite TV provider in 1996. As of now, it has achieved 74% household penetration nationwide. Over the years it has expanded beyond providing entertainment, from launching an e-commerce platform called Astro Go Shop to offering broadband bundles where you can subscribe to Pay-TV with a fibre broadband plan.

Its newest Ultra Plug & Play Box was recently made available last month, where users can stream content without needing to install a satellite dish. To stream content, users would need an internet connection of at least 30Mbps. The box could also be set up independently.

Earlier in the year, Astro also partnered with its supposed rivals Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar as part of its streaming expansion as well.
