Samsung Galaxy S20: Everything you need to know

The Samsung Galaxy S20 is the latest flagship series from the South Korean smartphone maker. For 2020, the model number jumps from S10 to S20 and there will be a total of three models – the Galaxy S20, the S20+ and the S20 Ultra. The devices were unveiled during the Samsung Unpacked event in San Francisco that took place on the 12th February 2020 at 3am (Malaysian Time).

Pricing and availability

In Malaysia, the Samsung Galaxy S20 series are priced as follows:



Galaxy S20 – RM3,599
Galaxy S20+ – RM3,999
Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G – RM4,999

The Galaxy S20 and S20+ comes with 8GB of RAM, while the S20 Ultra 5G gets 12GB of RAM. All three models are offered with 128GB of storage which is expandable via microSD card.

Pre-order for the devices is available from 5pm on 12th February until 26th February 2020. It is available on Samsung’s eStore as well as authorised partners such as Maxis, Harvey Norman, Celcom, Courts, Digi, Urban Republic, YTL, Best Denki, U Mobile, senQ, Senheng as well as Samsung official online store on Lazada and Shopee.



Pre-order customers will receive their smartphone from the 4th of March onward, while the device will hit stores on the 6th of March onward.

Customers that purchase the Galaxy S20+ and S20 Ultra 5G will receive the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ (worth RM599) for free.

Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra Specs

The Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra will feature a Quad HD+ display with screen sizes of 6.2″, 6.7″ and 6.9″ respectively. The trio will feature a fluid 120Hz refresh rate on an Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel. All three will offer stereo audio playback with speakers tuned by AKG.

For the Malaysian market, the smartphones will come with a 7nm octa-core Exynos 990 chipset instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 unit. The Galaxy S20 and S20+ will come with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of storage, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra will feature 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of storage in Malaysia. Internationally, the smartphone can be configured with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 memory and 512GB of storage. All variants have the option for microSD expansion via a hybrid SIM slot.

The most significant upgrade is its camera setup and all three models will be capable of recording 8K videos. The Galaxy S20 and S20+ will come with a 12MP main camera, a 64MP telephoto unit that offers 3X hybrid optical zoom and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle unit. The Galaxy S20+ will also come with an added DepthVision sensor for depth effects. For selfies, both the S20 and S20+ will feature a 10MP front camera that can shoot 4K videos.

Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line Galaxy S20 Ultra will come with an impressive quad-camera setup. It will feature a 108MP main camera, a 48MP telephoto unit that provides 10X hybrid optical zoom, a 12MP ultra-wide angle camera and a DepthVision sensor. In the selfie department, the Galaxy S20 Ultra will be fitted with a 40MP front camera that also supports 4K video recording.

In terms of battery, the Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra will come with capacities of 4,000mAh, 4,500mAh and 5,000mAh respectively. As usual, you can expect the same flagship features such as Samsung Pay, IP68 dust and water resistance as well as Super Fast charging via USB-C (25W for the S20 and S20+, 45W for the S20 Ultra) along with Super Fast wireless charging.
