This post is brought to you by OPPO.

OPPO has officially announced that ColorOS 17 is coming to Malaysia soon.

This update introduces a refreshed visual identity alongside deeper agentic AI capabilities and underlying performance upgrades.

Debuting on the upcoming flagship OPPO Find X10 Series, the new Android-based operating system focuses on rendering efficiency, long-term device responsiveness, and automated productivity tools.

Beyond superficial visual tweaks, OPPO is promising substantial resource management improvements under the hood, aiming to keep devices running smoothly even after years of continuous use.

ColorOS 17 features

The update is based on two main pillars: a redesigned “Living Flow Design” interface and an expanded suite of on-device OPPO AI features.

Other than the Living Flow Design, this update also adds new Agentic AI and Visual Tools like AI Mind Pilot, AI Photo Agent, and AI Mind Space.

Additionally, ColorOS 17 brings a revamped measure to protect device-to-cloud data transmissions from potential external threats.

Living Flow Interface and Performance Engines

ColorOS 17 replaces previous animation systems with Living Flow Design, built around softer translucent visuals, uninterrupted transition motion, and dynamic touch feedback.

Interactive elements across the interface now incorporate tactile physics, causing buttons, toolbars, and system controls to visibly compress, stretch, and rebound during daily use.

Supporting these visual updates are two rebuilt system engines:

  • Unified Rendering Architecture: Built on the Luminous Rendering Engine, it consolidates previously separate rendering pipelines into a single stream. This cuts system rendering loads by up to 30% and reduces rendering RAM consumption by up to 25%, maintaining visual consistency during heavy multitasking.
  • Laminar Flow Engine: Powered by OPPO’s Adaptive Scheduling Architecture, this resource coordinator manages foreground and background workloads simultaneously. It increases app launch stability by 55%, accelerates first-time Gallery thumbnail loading by up to 50%, and keeps over 25% more active apps in memory.

To address long-term performance degradation, OPPO claims ColorOS 17 retains over 90% of its initial out-of-the-box responsiveness in simulated six-year aging tests, even when internal storage is filled to 90% capacity.

On-Device Agentic AI and Visual Tools

ColorOS 17 expands OPPO AI into multi-step task automation.

Leading the charge is AI Mind Pilot’s new Agent Mode, which operates directly on local photos and documents. It can index scattered files, rename items based on context and dates, assemble travel itineraries, and automatically build photo albums or vlog cover art from natural language prompts.

Image editing receives a boost with AI Photo Agent, featuring Style Match to analyse the color grade and mood of a reference image and apply it to target photos.

For personal information management, AI Mind Space organises saved links and documents into searchable “Memory Collections,” while AI Mind Suggest surfaces context-aware cards for flight statuses, travel updates, and automatic music recommendations upon connecting headphones.

Additionally, a new camera integration, OSee, allows you to tap the shutter for instant object recognition, nutrition analysis, document scanning, or translation without opening separate apps.

Post-Quantum Security and Transparency Report

To protect cloud-based AI interactions, OPPO’s Private Computing Cloud (PCC) now incorporates post-quantum dual-encryption algorithms to secure device-to-cloud data transmissions against future decryption threats.

You can track AI activity through an on-device Transparency Report that logs request timestamps and operations performed.

You can also translate conversations instantly from your earbuds with AI Live Interpreter. This feature is powered by speaker recognition for fast, accurate, and natural communication.

ColorOS 17 availability and eligible devices

ColorOS 17 will ship out of the box on the upcoming OPPO Find X10 Series before rolling out to existing devices in progressive phases.
