In addition to its extended warranty program, Samsung Malaysia is now offering additional peace of mind with its new Screen Protection Plan. This will protect you from expensive repairs if you accidentally damage your smartphone’s screen.

Similar to Samsung’s Smart Warranty, the Screen Protection is a paid add-on which you can purchase together with your new flagship device. It costs RM149 and it will cover your device for a full year for one repair only. When making a claim, a service fee of RM100 will apply.

So in total, that’s RM249 to replace a screen which is significantly cheaper than the usual rate. According to the FAQ, a screen replacement for the Galaxy S7 edge would cost around RM1,160 for parts and labour inclusive of GST. Each device is eligible for one-time purchase, so you can’t add-on or extend another year of protection.

The Screen Protection plan is applicable for Galaxy A7 (2016), Galaxy A9 Pro (2016), Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7 edge Injustice Edition, Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy Note7. It can be purchased at selected Samsung Express Service Centres listed here and you must get it within 30 days from the purchase of your phone.

For a complete protection, you’re also able to take up both extended warranty and screen protection with Samsung Protection Plus. This gives your smartphone additional 1-year warranty (2 years total warranty) and 1-year screen protection for RM248. If you need to replace your screen, a RM100 service fee will still apply.

For more info, head over to Samsung’s Smart Care page.
