Apple has also announced a brand 15″ MacBook Air which is coming to Malaysia very soon. Powered by Apple’s own developed M2 series chip, the MacBook Air 15 is described as the world’s best 15″ laptop. At 11.5mm slim, the MacBook Air 15 is also said to be the thinnest 15″ laptop right now.
Apple MacBook Air 15 Malaysia Price
In Malaysia, the new MacBook Air 15 starts from RM6,199 for the base model which comes with an Apple M2 chip, 8GB of Unified Memory and 256GB of SSD. Upgrading the storage from 256GB to 512GB costs RM800 and upgrading from 256GB to 1TB would cost you RM1,600. Meanwhile, upgrading from 1TB to 2GB costs another RM1,600. The MacBook Air can support up to 24GB of unified memory which costs RM800 extra for each step up.
With all the hardware options maxed out, the fully-specced MacBook Air 15 in Malaysia will cost you RM10,999.
Apple has also given the 13″ MacBook Air a price cut. The base MacBook Air 13 model with M2 chip, 8GB Unified Memory and 256GB SSD now costs RM5,199 which is RM300 cheaper than before.
Although the pricing is listed, you still can’t purchase the MacBook Air 15″ in Malaysia yet as the laptop is still listed as currently unavailable.
Apple MacBook Air 15 Malaysia Specs and Features
The latest MacBook Air 15 features a 15.3″ Liquid Retina IPS Display that pushes a 2880×1864 pixels resolution and a maximum brightness of 500 nits. Similar to the new Mac laptops, it comes with a notch which houses the 1080p FaceTime HD camera. Under the hood, the MacBook Air 15 runs on Apple M2 chip with 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU and 16-core Neural engine, which has a 100GB/s memory bandwidth.
The rest of the specs seem similar to the 13″ MacBook Air. It also gets two Thunderbolt (USB 4) ports, 3.5mm headphone jack, Magsafe, 802.11ax WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 support. Although the battery is bigger at 66.5Whr, it still boasts the same up to 18 hours of battery life as the MacBook Air 13.
Another interesting upgrade is that the 15″ version gets a six-speaker sound system with force-cancelling woofers, as opposed to just a four-speaker sound system on the 13″ MacBook Air. Also included is the same Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. In terms of weight, the 15″ version weighs 1.51kg which is heavier than the 13″ model’s 1.24kg. The MacBook Air 13″ and 15″ are available in four colours – Starlight, Midnight, Space Grey and Silver.
