TM has recently announced that it is offering free replacement of Unifi equipment that is damaged by the recent floods. We’ve reached out to TM for more details and they have confirmed there’s no contract extension for affected customers that wish to replace their damaged wireless router and other CPE (Customer Premise Equipment).

Under the free equipment replacement programme, TM will replace the Broadband Termination Unit (BTU), which is the unit where the fibre cable is connected, as well as the wireless router. This programme also covers customers on the 4G LTE-based Unifi Air broadband service. For existing Streamyx customers, TM says the service is a discontinued product and they will offer a special package to affected customers to switch to Unifi.

TM has confirmed that affected customers taking up the offer will not incur extra cost and there will be no impact on their contract status. To get a free replacement, customers can call their hotline at 100 or reach out to them on their Live Chat platform.

The devastating floods which displaced tens of thousands of people in several states have also caused interruption to communications services. Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Musa Annuar revealed recently that 45% of affected mobile towers in Selangor have been restored as of 22nd December. Most of the network sites were down due to power outages as the electric supply was disconnected by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for safety reasons.

TM is still working around the clock to restore all affected services by the floods. You can keep track of the progress on their Unifi Alerts page.
