Healthcare platform BookDoc has denied issuing a letter that claims to offer AstraZeneca vaccines on the open market for RM100 per dose. The circulated letter is fake news and the spokesperson told Malay Mail via phone call that the management did not issue the letter.

When asked if BookDoc was involved in the COVID-19 vaccination programme, the spokesperson said they are not involved for now and they have not received any information from their management on such involvement. At the moment, BookDoc is offering RT-PCR COVID-19 testing that can be performed via walk-in or on-site.

The purported letter which is supposedly signed by CEO Dato’ Chevy Beh has mentioned that the AstraZeneca vaccines are offered on-site for companies and they will charge RM100 per dose per pax. Since AstraZeneca is a two-dose vaccine, it will costs RM200 per pax and there’s a minimum order of 500 pax even if the company has less than 500 employees.

Malaysia is currently administering its current supply of AstraZeneca vaccines via a voluntary opt-in program. Due to the encouraging response, AstraZeneca will be included in the mainstream immunisation programme. Malaysia has procured AstraZeneca vaccines via COVAX, a global initiative to ensure equitable access to COVID_19 vaccines directed by GAVI, CEPI, UNICEF and WHO.
