Apple is having an event on 20th April. Here’s what you can expect

To kick off the 2nd quarter of 2021, Apple is having a “Spring loaded” event on the 20th of April. Apple is expected to introduce new iPad models and an all-new accessory. Due to the pandemic, the event will be held virtually and it will be streamed live from Apple Park in Cupertino.

The Apple event is happening on the 21st April at 1am (Malaysian Time). You can watch it via Apple.com or on Apple’s official YouTube channel.

If you look at the logo, the style is somewhat similar to the 15 September event where they unveiled the 4th gen iPad Air, 8th gen iPad, Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE.

The end of last year was a busy time for Apple as the company had back to back product launches from September until December. Besides the iPhone 12 and new iPads, Apple also introduced the M1 powered Macs and the AirPods Max in the final months of 2020.

For next week’s launch, Apple is likely to introduce its new iPad Pro lineup that has a mini-LED display. The new screen is expected to be significantly better than OLED with greater contrast and higher peak brightness.

In terms of performance, it has been speculated to run on a more power Apple M1-like chip which could be branded as the A14X. After introducing its 5G-enabled iPhone 12 series, it is also likely that the new iPad Pro would also support faster 5G connectivity.

Besides the iPad Pro, Apple’s long rumoured AirTags are expected to make an appearance too. These are small tracking devices similar to Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag which allows you to locate misplaced items. The trackers would use Ultra Wide-Band (UWB) technology and it is rumoured in come in different shapes and sizes.

To prevent potential misuse such as unauthorised stalking, a new “Item Safety Features” was spotted on iOS 14.5 beta. When enabled, it will alert you if a tracking device that doesn’t belong to you is following your every movement.

What are you looking forward to from Apple next week? Let us know in the comments below.
