Sony has officially launched the Xperia 10 VIII in Malaysia. This is the brand’s latest mid-range smartphone featuring a dedicated camera shutter button, a brighter OLED display and a promise of up to six years of security updates.

The new Xperia smartphone also retains several features that are becoming increasingly rare on modern smartphones, including a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot.

Sony Xperia 10 VIII Malaysia Price and Promo

The Sony Xperia 10 VIII is officially priced at RM2,999 in Malaysia and comes in a single configuration with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage.

The device is offered in three colours: Frozen White, Frosted Gray and Misty Lilac.

As part of its early bird promotion running from now until 30 November 2026, Sony Malaysia is offering free gifts worth RM768 with every purchase of the Xperia 10 VIII while stocks last. You can place your orders online on Sony’s online store.

The early bird bundle includes a pair of Sony WH-CH730N noise-cancelling headphones worth RM649 and a Style Cover with Stand worth RM119.

Sony Xperia 10 VIII Malaysia Spec

If you’re expecting a major upgrade from the previous Xperia 10 VII, you might be disappointed. As highlighted previously, the Xperia 10 VIII is largely identical to its predecessor, with the changes mostly limited to the exterior design, display brightness, speakers and software.

The Xperia 10 VIII retains the same 6.1-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, but Sony claims the screen is now up to 50% brighter for better outdoor visibility. The back panel also gets a new translucent frosted finish, available in Frozen White, Frosted Gray and Misty Lilac.

Sony has also improved the front-facing stereo speakers, which now promise 30% stronger bass response and up to 15% higher overall volume.

Under the hood, the Xperia 10 VIII still runs on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. There’s also a microSD card slot that supports storage expansion of up to 2TB.

The cameras remain unchanged, featuring a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.56-inch Exmor RS sensor and optical image stabilisation, alongside a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera. Up front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera.

Powering the device is the same 5,000mAh battery, which Sony claims can last up to two days on a single charge. It also supports USB Power Delivery fast charging.

Other familiar features include a dedicated camera shutter button, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

On the software front, the Xperia 10 VIII ships with Android 16 out of the box. Sony promises up to four major Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates.

With a Malaysian launch price of RM2,999, the Xperia 10 VIII costs RM800 more than last year’s Xperia 10 VII, which launched locally at RM2,199. That’s a significant price increase for a smartphone that shares the exact same core hardware as before.

For the money, you’re better off with other affordable flagship-class contenders including the Galaxy S26 FE which starts from RM2,899 before including other ongoing discounts.
