Apple’s latest Mac Studio with M5 Ultra is now available with up to 512GB of unified memory in Malaysia, but be prepared to pay a hefty premium for the upgrade.
The 512GB memory option is now available to configure on Apple’s Malaysia online store. However, upgrading from 256GB to 512GB of unified memory will set you back a whopping RM51,750.
To put things into perspective, the memory upgrade alone costs more than an entire Mac Studio equipped with an M5 Ultra chip, 256GB of unified memory and 1TB SSD storage, which retails for RM48,849.
The highest RAM option was mentioned earlier when the Mac Studio M5 Ultra was initially introduced back in August.

Take note that the 512GB unified memory option is only available with the higher-spec M5 Ultra chip, featuring a 36-core CPU and 80-core GPU, and 32‑core Neural Engine.
Here’s how much the Mac Studio with the range topping M5 Ultra chip costs in Malaysia with the various memory and storage configurations:
- M5 Ultra (36-core CPU, 80-core GPU), 96GB RAM + 1TB SSD – RM30,849
- M5 Ultra (36-core CPU, 80-core GPU), 256GB RAM + 1TB SSD – RM48,849
- M5 Ultra (36-core CPU, 80-core GPU), 512GB RAM + 1TB SSD – RM100,599
- M5 Ultra (36-core CPU, 80-core GPU), 512GB RAM + 2TB SSD – RM102,849
- M5 Ultra (36-core CPU, 80-core GPU), 512GB RAM + 4TB SSD – RM107,349
- M5 Ultra (36-core CPU, 80-core GPU), 512GB RAM + 8TB SSD – RM116,349
- M5 Ultra (36-core CPU, 80-core GPU), 512GB RAM + 16TB SSD – RM134,349
As you can see, upgrading from 96GB to 256GB of unified memory costs an additional RM18,000. However, the jump from 256GB to 512GB is significantly more expensive at RM51,750.
If you place an order for the Mac Studio M5 Ultra with 512GB Unified Memory from Apple’s online store, the estimated delivery/pickup is 28 January 2027. That’s a week longer than ordering an iPhone Duo online.

If you want to go all out, a fully specced Mac Studio M5 Ultra with 512GB unified memory and 16TB SSD storage will cost you RM134,349.
Take note that the keyboard, mouse and display are not included in the price.
Who actually needs 512GB of unified memory?

While 512GB of RAM might sound excessive for a desktop computer, there are specialised professional workloads that can benefit from having such a massive amount of memory.
One of the biggest use cases is artificial intelligence, particularly for AI researchers and large language model (LLM) developers who need to run massive AI models locally.
Unlike conventional PCs with separate system RAM and dedicated GPU memory, Apple’s unified memory architecture allows the CPU and GPU to share the same memory pool. With 512GB of unified memory and up to 1.2TB/s of memory bandwidth, the M5 Ultra powered Mac Studio can accommodate significantly larger AI models without relying on cloud computing.
The Mac Studio with 512GB unified memory can now be configured through the Apple Malaysia online store.
