TM has announced an update on the Unifi service degradation issue caused by a submarine cable fault. The issue has caused sluggish internet connection and slower browsing experience for Unifi broadband customers since the long holiday weekend.

As of 6pm this evening, TM says they have observed a stable trend and increased capacity after they rerouted traffic through alternative connections while optimising the network capacity to manage the increased load. It added that its remedial works are expected to address the internet service experience issues affecting its customers.

According to TM’s statement, the submarine cable fault occurred near Lantau Island in Hong Kong. It revealed that the submarine cable is part of a consortium network of which TM is a member. Besides TM, the submarine cable fault has also impacted other members of the international consortium to varying degrees.

TM apologises for any inconvenience and they appreciate the patience during this time. For users who are still facing sluggish internet or other issues, they are advised to contact Unifi customer service team though official channels including Live Chat or via their 100 hotline.
