To ensure vulnerable groups are not left behind when it comes to COVID-19 vaccination, the government has announced a subsidy of up to RM30 for eHailing and taxi rides for senior citizens and people with disabilities. This was revealed as part of the initiatives to boost vaccinations under PEMULIH.

According to the Prime Minister, the RM30 subsidy can be used to offset the transportation cost for taxis and eHailing services to go to vaccination centres on the day of the appointment. It is applicable only to senior citizens and people with disabilities. At the moment, there isn’t any information on the subsidy redemption and type of platforms supported.

Prior to this, several providers had introduced initiatives to transport senior citizens to get their vaccine jab. Grab had offered RM8 off for 4 rides for verified senior citizens while GoCar had launched a free GoVax shuttle service for senior citizens and OKU within the Petaling district. GoCar is currently looking for volunteer drivers to help drive senior citizens and OKUs to their vaccination centres during the weekends.
