With the reintroduction of the Movement Control Order (MCO) and Condition Movement Control Order (CMCO) nationwide, it looks like we will all be spending more time at home. Fortunately, Astro has announced it would be offering complimentary access to its Kids Pack and News channels to keep its customers entertained and informed.

The freebie will coincide with the recently announced two-week MCO from 13 January till 26 January 2021. Astro customers can also enjoy the complimentary channels on Astro Go (iOS, Android, Huawei AppGallery).

The Kids Pack should help keep children entertained and busy once they are done with remote learning. This definitely would be a welcome relief for parents as they attempt to get as much work done from their current Work From Home (WFH) arrangements. According to Astro, the package includes access to popular kids channels such as

  • Cartoon Network
  • Nickelodeon
  • Nick.Jr
  • Boomerang

Young viewers can look forward to a number of cartoon and movies with the likes of Ben 10, The Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, We Bare Bears, SpongeBob SquarePants,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mr. Bean: The Animated Series, My Little Pony: Pony Life, Scooby-doo! Guess Who? and many others.

Meanwhile, Astro customers will be able to keep abreast with the latest developments on the pandemic as well as news from around the region and world. It should be noted that this package does not include access to SkyNews. This would include access to most of the major news channels including:

  • CNN
  • BBC World News
  • Al Jazeera English
  • Channel News Asia (CNA)
  • Bloomberg TV
  • CNBC Asia
  • ABC Australia
  • Astro Awani

This is not the first time Astro has dolled out freebies to its users. Last year during the first MCO in March 2020, Astro offered its customers complimentary access to its movie channels. It subsequently added more complementary channels including those for education and sports when the MCO was extended in April.
