If you’re in the market for a used car, Proton has just introduced its certified pre-owned car website which allows you to browse through available stocks from 36 dealers nationwide. On top of that, these Proton certified vehicles also come with extended warranty plus additional perks.

According to Proton, the Used Car Management (UCM) division was introduced to process customer trade-in cars more efficiently. It started as a pilot project with 8 Proton outlets and now it has expanded to 36 outlets that support the Proton Certified Pre-Owned (PCPO) program.

The dealership must meet several criteria both financial and physical, as well as agree to perform necessary steps to prepare their trade-in car for sale. This includes a comprehensive 201-point inspection, providing a new battery, engine oil & oil filter.

The certified pre-owned vehicles must be less than 7-years-old with less than 130,000km of mileage at the time of trade-in. The vehicles must be free from flood or major accident damage which may affect the structural integrity.

Proton Edar CEO Roslan Abdullah said “PROTON’s PCPO is the next step for the company to build a holistic ecosystem. As we continue to offer new and improved products, we also want to attract those interested in purchasing a used car and offer a quick and easy way for customers to trade-in their current vehicles. All our PCPO cars get an extended one-year warranty for the engine and transmission as well as a free service, redeemable up to six-months after the date of registration.”

Apart from helping to drive new car sales, Roslan said the used-car division aims to help stabilise and gradually build the residual value of Proton vehicles. He said by offering high quality used cars, Proton hopes to see a general lifting of prices for all of their models.

The PCPO site has a variety of Proton vehicles which include the Saga, Preve, Persona, Iriz and their X70 flagship SUV. The cheapest Proton X70 available is a 2018 standard model that’s priced at RM75,000. Apart from certified pre-owned Protons, the site also features older Proton models with higher mileage as well as used cars from other makes.
