Proton has revealed that it has sold a total of 11,392 vehicles in the month of October 2020. Although it sold 543 fewer units than last month, October 2020 marks a 20% year-on-year growth over the same month in 2019.
In less than a week since the Proton X50 was launched, a total of 447 units have been delivered to its customers last month. According to Proton, it has received a total of 27,400 bookings as of end of October 2020 and they are pushing hard to fulfill its orders over the last three months of 2020 while emphasising on product quality.
With the number of new car launches and the total sales in October, Malaysia’s automotive market is showing signs of recovery. It is estimated that the Total-Industry-Volume (TIV) is the second highest in 2020 with over 57,000 units sold. Proton has shared that it noticed a significant drop in East Malaysia sales while the Central region was static compared to September.
For the month of October, 3 Proton models continue to lead its respective market segments. Despite facing new competing models in 2020, the Proton Persona is still the highest volume B-segment sedan and they have sold 2,360 units in October. Meanwhile, the Proton Exora still leads as the highest volume C-segment MPV in the country with a total of 580 units sold. The Proton X70 remains as the highest volume C-segment SUV with a total of 2,216 units sold.
The Proton Saga remains their best seller which makes up 44.5% of total units sold in October. A total of 5,069 Sagas was sold last month and it is currently the 2nd highest volume A-segment sedan.
