Proton e.MAS branded EV charging stations will begin their deployment starting from Q3 this year. The rollout will be done in cooperation with ChargEV, DC Handal, and JomCharge, according to Pro-Net.

Pro-Net has also confirmed that e.MAS EV and PHEV owners are able to enjoy discounted charging rates when they activate and pay for their charging session at the Proton e.MAS-branded stations through the Proton e.MAS app. However, the discounted rates have not yet been revealed at the moment.

The initial phase of the rollout will be taking place in popular high-traffic public locations in order to cater for destinations that e.MAS owners regularly visit. It will then be followed by more locations throughout Malaysia.

“As more Malaysians make the transition to electric mobility, convenient and accessible charging will become an increasingly important part of the ownership experience.

Through our collaboration with leading CPOs, we want to make charging more rewarding for e.MAS owners and give them greater access to charging at key locations.

This partnership brings together the strengths of Pro-Net, our charging partners and the e.MAS digital ecosystem to support our customers as EV adoption continues to grow in Malaysia,” – Zhang Qiang, CEO, Pro-Net.

Truth to be told, Pro-Net has been mulling the idea of establishing dedicated EV charging infrastructure for quite some time. This was then manifested through the first-ever e.MAS standalone DC charging hub at Proton Tanjung Malim last September.

Furthermore, Proton is one of the very few EV makers in Malaysia that offer an integrated charging experience, with the others being Tesla and Mercedes-Benz.

At the moment, e.MAS EV and PHEV owners are already able to locate and check out live EV charger status for over 4,700 charging points nationwide through the Integrated Live Charging Map on their vehicles as well as the Proton e.MAS mobile app. However, charger activation and payment is currently limited to the mobile app.
