Google has officially launched Gemini Spark in Malaysia, expanding its next-generation agentic AI capabilities to local users.
Powered by Gemini 3.6 Flash, Gemini Spark moves AI beyond reactive chat windows and turns it into an active partner capable of handling complex, repetitive digital chores on your behalf.
What is Gemini Spark?
Unlike traditional AI assistants that only respond when you directly prompt them, Gemini Spark is designed to operate continuously in the background. Because it runs natively on Google cloud infrastructure, it can execute assigned multi-step tasks even when your laptop lid is closed or your smartphone is locked.
The feature is available in both Bahasa Malaysia and English for Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers in Malaysia.
Deep integration with Google Workspace
Gemini Spark connects with everyday Google Workspace apps including Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Keep, and Google Tasks with zero setup required. Under your explicit direction, it can take over time-consuming administration.
For example, when a hotel or flight booking confirmation email arrives in your inbox, Spark can parse the booking references, departure times, and addresses, append them to a travel tracking spreadsheet, and create corresponding entries on your Google Calendar.
Security and user control remain central to the experience. Gemini Spark operates strictly under your parameters, allowing you to choose which apps it accesses. Crucially, the AI is programmed to ask for your confirmation before executing high-stakes actions, such as sending emails or making purchases.
Practical workflows for everyday Malaysian users
Google highlighted several real-world prompt scenarios tailored to daily life and work in Malaysia.
For lifestyle and weekend planning, users can instruct Spark to hunt for activities around Kuala Lumpur every Friday morning. The AI can aggregate night markets, food festivals, concerts, and hiking trails into a Google Doc with travel times and links, while automatically adding top choices to your calendar.
For financial tracking, Spark can act as a personal expense auditor. On the first day of every month, it can review your inbox for utility bills, internet invoices, and streaming receipts, automatically logging expenses into a Google Sheet in Ringgit. It can also flag unexpected subscription price increases or expiring free trials and pre-draft cancellation emails for your review.
For professionals and entrepreneurs, Spark can automate client communication and administrative prep work. It can scan your inbox for customer leads, draft tailored responses based on your pricing packages, and save them in your drafts folder.
You can even instruct Spark to analyse your last 50 sent emails to create a custom “ghostwriter” skill, allowing it to draft future messages in your precise personal writing tone.
macOS app, connected apps, and real-time tracking
Alongside the local rollout, Google is expanding Spark’s reach across desktop environments and third-party tools.
A dedicated macOS app, currently rolling out in Beta to Google AI Ultra subscribers, allows Spark to manage local files. You can ask it to sort downloaded PDFs into designated desktop folders or compile local invoice files into a budget spreadsheet. Future updates will allow users to trigger remote desktop actions from their phones while away from their computer.
Spark is also expanding its ecosystem beyond Google apps to support third-party integrations with services like Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rentals, alongside support for the custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) for developer customisation.
Additionally, Spark can now track topics in real time, delivering automated updates on stock price movements, breaking news, or live sports results as soon as they happen.
Gemini Spark pricing and availability in Malaysia
Gemini Spark is rolling out starting today to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers in Malaysia across web and mobile platforms, with support for English and Bahasa Malaysia.
To access the feature, you will need a paid Google AI plan. Google AI Pro starts from RM97.99 per month and includes 5TB of cloud storage. If you need maximum storage and access to desktop automation features, Google AI Ultra starts from RM429.99 per month and comes with 20TB of cloud storage.
The macOS desktop app experience is available in Beta for Ultra tier accounts, while third-party app integrations and real-time tracking features will continue to roll out progressively over the coming weeks.
At the time of writing, Gemini Spark is not yet live on our account, but Google expects to roll out the update in phases over the next few days.
