Pro-Net has announced that it will showcase a new Proton e.MAS 7 variant at the upcoming Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, marking the first public appearance of the new model variant.
The preview will take place at Proton e.MAS’ booth in Hall 7, Level 2 at MITEC during KLIMS 2026, which runs from 11 to 21 June 2026. According to Pro-Net, more details about the new Proton e.MAS 7 variant will be revealed closer to its market introduction.
The announcement comes as Proton e.MAS celebrates its second anniversary. Since its introduction in 2024, the brand says it has grown from Malaysia’s first national EV brand to become the country’s No.1 EV brand.
Pro-Net Chief Executive Officer Zhang Qiang said. “KLIMS 2026 is a meaningful milestone for Proton e.MAS as we reflect on how far the brand has come over the last two years. It is also an opportunity to give Malaysians a glimpse of what comes next in our EV journey.”
While Pro-Net has yet to reveal specifications, pricing or positioning details for the new Proton e.MAS 7 variant, visitors attending KLIMS 2026 will be able to get an early look at the upcoming addition to the Proton e.MAS lineup.
The company described the new model as the “next evolution” of the Proton e.MAS 7 and said additional information will be announced closer to its official market introduction.
What can we expect from the new Proton e.MAS 7 variant?
Pro-Net has not revealed any details about the new Proton e.MAS 7 variant, but the announcement comes just days after Proton e.MAS teased an upcoming addition to its EV lineup.
In addition, the Proton e.MAS now 7 faces a new challenger following the launch of the BYD Atto 3 2026. The refreshed Atto 3 now comes in a RWD variant that offers more power at 308hp, longer WLTP-rated range of up to 510km and faster charging up to 220kW.
Based on Proton e.MAS’ earlier teaser, we don’t expect a major exterior redesign as the silhouette appears similar to the current model. Instead, the biggest change could be a larger battery pack that has already been introduced for the related Geely Galaxy E5 and Geely EX5 in several markets including China, Thailand and Australia.
Currently, the Proton e.MAS 7 Prime is equipped with a 49.52kWh battery with a WLTP-rated range of 345km, while the Premium gets a larger 60.22kWh battery that delivers up to 410km of WLTP-rated range.
The newer battery pack offered in overseas EX5 models has a capacity of 68.39kWh. In those markets, the larger battery increases the SUV’s WLTP-rated range from 410km to as much as 475km.
At this point, it remains unclear if Proton plans to replace an existing variant or introduce the larger-battery model as a new addition to the e.MAS 7 range. Stay tuned to us as we will be covering the announcement at KLIMS 2026.
