Honda Malaysia has announced a rebate of RM34,000 for their electric SUV, the Honda e:N1 in less than 5 months after it was launched in Malaysia. The massive rebate is part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebration.
The Honda e:N1 was launched in Malaysia with a price tag of RM149,900. With the rebate, this means you can get the Honda e:N1 for RM115,900 – that is much lower than the retail price for two of the most popular electric SUVs in Malaysia.
As a comparison, the Proton e.MAS 7 Premium currently can be obtained at RM119,800, while the BYD Atto 3 Ultra is priced at RM123,800.
In some way, the sudden massive rebate may just break the perception that Japanese brands offer better resale value compared to Chinese brands. That being said, do note that this rebate is currently only applicable for units registered from 1 to 31 October 2025.
Honda Malaysia, what’s your actual plan with e:N1?
Back in May, we were informed that Honda Malaysia had received nearly 200 bookings for the e:N1 before its official launch in Malaysia.
According to JPJ’s registration data, only 39 units of e:N1 have been registered as of August this year. 8 of them were registered in July, while 31 units were registered in August, although 25 of them were used for an event with KTM Berhad.
So, what happened to those bookings? From these stats alone, it seems that the majority of bookings didn’t follow through…or is there a delay in delivery?
Nevertheless, it has been pointed out in a previous article that Honda Malaysia is not giving the e:N1 much love in terms of marketing. Based on our observations, there are no posts about eLN1 on Honda Malaysia’s official Facebook and Instagram pages since 15 May – the day the EV was officially launched in Malaysia.
In fact, even the promotional poster (shown above) that revealed the new RM34,000 rebate didn’t have a picture of the electric SUV in it. Instead, the poster only contained the e:N1 logo, which seems like an odd and jarring decision.
Honda e:N1 Malaysia quick specs
Even though the e:N1 looked identical to its ICE twin, the 3rd generation HR-V, Honda said that the EV features the new e:N Architecture F which is designed for front-wheel drive models
Physically, the e:N1 is generally similar to the Honda HR-V. The 1,662kg electric SUV is 4,380mm long, 1,790mm wide, and 1,592mm tall while it also has a 2,610mm wheelbase and 344L boot space.
Powered by a 68.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the e:N1 has also been equipped with a 150kW (201hp) electric motor that also produces 310Nm on torque. Honda claimed that the e:N1 can deliver up to 500km of NEDC-rated range which is roughly equivalent to 425km WLTP.
In terms of charging speed, the e:N1 is fitted with a 10kW 3-phase AC onboard charger and can support a DC charging speed of up to 78kW. Honda said that it takes around 6 hours to get the EV from 10% to 80% via AC charging, while DC charging takes around 50 minutes to get 30% to 80%.
Aside from being a BEV, among the main features that immediately differentiate the e:N1 from HR-V is its digital screens. Specifically, the e:N1 features a fully-digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster for the driver while there is also a much larger and more elaborate 15.1-inch infotainment display with support for wireless Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto.
As expected from a high-end Honda product, Honda Sensing also comes standard with e:N1. Features delivered through the ADAS suite include Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, Lane Keep Assist System, Forward Collision Warning with Collision Mitigation Brake System, and many more.
