Users of Rapid KL’s My50 unlimited ride pass can soon enjoy seamless monthly renewals as the pass will be integrated with Touch ‘n Go eWallet (TNG eWallet). Transport Minister Anthony Loke has instructed Prasarana Malaysia Berhad to integrate the My50 pass with TNG eWallet to reduce the need to queue at LRT station counters.

As reported by The Star, Anthony said the integration with TNG eWallet is expected to be completed in the next few months and the move will make it more convenient for users by next year.

The My50 pass initiative has been extended under Budget 2025 and it allows users to enjoy unlimited rides on RapidKL’s LRT, MRT, Monorail and BRT services, as well as RapidKL’s bus and MRT feeder buses in the Klang Valley for only RM50 per month.

According to the Minister, there are 220,000 My50 pass users per month which is an indication of the initiative’s success in encouraging the use of public transportation.

My50 pass can be renewed online but offline validation is still required over the counter

At the moment, users have to renew the My50 pass over at the counter of Rapid KL train stations and selected bus hubs. There are online renewal options available, however, the catch is that users are still required to queue up and validate their purchase over the counter. That’s mainly because the My50 pass is only offered to Malaysian citizens and is tied to their MyKad or MyTentera.

There are no details on the TNG eWallet implementation but we reckon that MyKad validation process can be done through the eWallet if the user has validated their account through the eKYC process.

The Ministry of Transport has been allocated RM750 million under Budget 2025 for public transport initiatives. 44% will be used for public transport subsidies which include rail and air services. RM226 million will be allocated for My50 and Mutiara Pas subsidies and RM22 million for Tren Tidak Ekonomik (TTE) subsidy to cover Tumpat-Kuala Lips and Gemas routes.

For rural air services (RAS) in East Malaysia, over RM200 million will be allocated to connect interior areas including new routes from Kota Kinabalu to Layang-Layang and Miri to Long Banga. On top of that, the government is also allocating RM48 million for Flysiswa flight ticket subsidies for students.
