Huawei may be unveiling a triple-folding phone in 2024

Foldables are now becoming more common on the streets. Flip- and book-type foldables are the two most common types of foldables we have on sale – like the Oppo N3 Flip or the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.

At the same time, companies are trying out new designs and combinations to keep them one or two steps ahead of the competition. Huawei may just leap ahead on the innovation front next year if the rumours are true.

According to tipster Revengus on their X account @Tech_Reve, Huawei is set to launch a production-ready triple-folding smartphone by March next year. Also, they will launch two models using the new foldable technology at the same time.

The report said that the company’s development of a triple-folding device is “progressing smoothly”, and that the device “may be ready for launch before March next year.”

Huawei is said to be preparing a triple-fold, and Huawei has always been about a year ahead of Samsung, right? Samsung is also preparing a triple fold. pic.twitter.com/uyW9ikzfDI

The biggest problem with foldables, especially a triple-fold type, will be the thickness of the device when folded. We know that Huawei can make thin foldables – the recently launched Huawei Mate X5 is only 5.3mm when unfolded. No, the problem will be when the phone is folded – even at 5.3mm, you will triple the thickness when the phone is folded into itself.

The next problem will be the cover screen form factor. The triple-fold will most likely be more Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 instead of the Oppo Find N3. A longer form factor for the cover screen could be inevitable as the triple folding mechanism will fold the phone to a longer form factor – like Samsung.

We will have to wait and see what the triple folding phone will be like when it is expected to launch next year. Samsung also has something cooking, and I can’t wait to see both companies to showcase what they have in the foldable space next year.
