Xiaomi Malaysia is getting ready to launch its affordable flagship smartphones, the Poco F9 series. Built around the theme “UltraPower Unbound”, the launch will feature two models: the Poco F9 Pro and the higher-tier Poco F9 Ultra.
The official local launch stream is happening on 1 September 2026 at 8:00 PM.
Xiaomi has also revealed its freebies for the upcoming devices, which include a free Poco Pad C1 for the F9 Ultra and a free Xiaomi Smart Band 10 for the F9 Pro.
Fresh colors and a Bose speaker setup
In their official teasers, Poco revealed three clean color options. The Poco F9 Ultra comes in Dark Cherry with a textured glass-fiber back panel. Meanwhile, the Poco F9 Pro features an Aurora Green version with a glowing back cover that shines in the dark, along with a classic Silver/White option. However, we will have to wait for the launch stream to see which exact colors land in the Malaysian market.
For now, no further details have been provided by Xiaomi regarding this Poco F9 series. However, based on the shared teaser poster, it appears that the lineup will retain the Sound by Bose system with a speaker layout paired with a subwoofer, similar to what was offered on the previous Poco F8 series.
Expected specifications for the Poco F9 series
Because these phones are expected to be global versions of China’s Redmi K100 series, we can look at the China specs to get an idea of what is inside:
According to official specifications from China, the Redmi K100 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch 185Hz AMOLED display with 4,500 nits peak brightness, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Its rear camera system includes a 200MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide sensor.
It is backed by a 9,070mAh battery supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, along with IP68 and IP69 water resistance ratings and a Bose-tuned sound setup with an internal woofer.
Meanwhile, the standard Redmi K100 Pro comes with a slightly smaller 6.59-inch 185Hz AMOLED screen with 4,500 nits peak brightness and runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series chipset. Poco Malaysia facebook page has also officially confirmed that the upcoming Poco F9 Pro will be powered by this exact same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series processor.
For context, Qualcomm’s V Series variant shares the exact same 3nm architecture, 3rd-generation Oryon CPU cores (clocked up to 4.6GHz), Hexagon NPU and 5G modem as the standard flagship 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The main distinction lies in a slightly reconfigured Adreno 840 GPU designed to maintain efficient flagship-tier performance and power management for everyday multitasking and gaming.
Its camera layout includes a 200MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. It runs on an 8,580mAh battery supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
While full details will be announced during the livestream, Xiaomi Malaysia’s official website confirms one key change for our market. The Malaysian version of the Poco F9 Ultra will pack an 8,050mAh battery instead of the 9,070mAh in China. Even with the slight reduction, it is still a massive battery for an everyday phone.
Of course, some of these specs might change for the local release. Everything will be confirmed next week, so stay tuned.
As a reference, the Poco F8 Ultra launched at RM3,199 for the 12GB+256GB variant, while the F8 Pro model was priced from RM2,499 for the same storage configuration. However, you can expect a price increase for both upcoming models due to the current RAM and memory crisis, along with the upgraded specifications offered.
