Maxis upgrades postpaid plans with 10GB of extra data

It has been a while since Maxis has updated its mobile postpaid offering. To keep up with the times, Maxis is offering a 10GB upgrade across all of its postpaid plans.

The base Maxis Postpaid 98 (RM98/month) plan is now offered with 50GB of data while the highest tier Maxis Postpaid 188 (RM188/month) now comes with 110GB of data. The plans still come with unlimited calls and SMS. Unfortunately, the data quota for Maxis Postpaid Share 48 supplementary line remains unchanged with 30GB of data.

The last time Maxis updated its postpaid plan was in June 2020. They have removed the dreaded weekday-weekend data split for all plans and offered 10-40GB of extra data. If you’re currently subscribed to an existing postpaid + fibre broadband bundle or Maxis Family Plan, this upgrade won’t affect you as your postpaid lines are already getting unlimited data.

According to the FAQ, the newly upgraded data quota is offered from 20th January 2022 and it’s also applicable to new line activation. Existing subscribers will be upgraded in phases between 20th January to 4th February 2022. Customers will be informed via SMS after the upgrade and you’ll receive the full data quota.

In case you missed it, Maxis has recently enabled WiFi Calling which allows you to make and receive voice calls at higher quality over WiFi. This is useful if you’re staying in an area with bad mobile reception but have access to a stable WiFi connection.

At the moment, Maxis isn’t offering 5G services but they do offer 5G roaming in Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia. The 5G roaming pass costs RM29 for one day or RM49 for 7 days.

For more info, you can check out Maxis’ postpaid page.
