Xiaomi donates over RM400,000 to Malaysia’s flood relief efforts

With the recent disasters hitting the region, Xiaomi has pledged donations amounting to USD 200,000 (about RM836,000) to support relief efforts in Malaysia and the Philippines. As of Monday, the death toll due to floods in Malaysia is at 48 and there are some who are still missing. Tens of thousands of residents have been displaced and are living in temporary relief shelters.

According to Xiaomi, they have pledged USD 100,000 (about RM418,000) from Xiaomi Foundation to Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia’s emergency flood-relief fund to help underprivileged flood victims rebuild their livelihoods. Xiaomi has also pledged USD 100,000 to World Vision Philippines.

Prior to this, Xiaomi has also supported Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia to provide essential food supplies to 600 families across West Malaysia and they are glad to be able to partner with them again to support underprivileged flood victims. Xiaomi hopes for the best for those who are affected and a speedy recovery to the affected areas.

If you wish to contribute to Yayasan Food Bank, you can donate directly to their bank account YAYASAN FOOD BANK MALAYSIA with the account number 566010630584 on Maybank (Swift Code: MBBEMYKL).

Last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook has pledged to contribute to relief efforts in Malaysia and the Philippines. However, it didn’t reveal which organisation they will be working with.
