After launching in early March, the MacBook Neo is now officially on sale in Malaysia. Offered in two configurations, prices for the “Rahmah” MacBook officially start at RM2,499. But you can get it at an even lower price, at least at the time of writing. More details below.

MacBook Neo Malaysia: Pricing & availability

  • MacBook Neo (8GB RAM + 256GB storage) – RM2,499
  • MacBook Neo (8GB RAM + 512GB storage + Touch ID) – RM2,899

The “budget” MacBook Neo is also available with Apple’s Education Savings, priced at just RM2,099 for the 256GB model and RM2,499 for the 512GB version.

Alternatively, you can get the MacBook Neo via Apple’s authorised resellers on Shopee, where it’s listed for as low as RM2,248. Availability dates are listed as early as 14 April on Apple Malaysia’s official website, or as soon as 9 April via resellers such as Switch.

You can get the MacBook Neo via Shopee and Lazada:

In terms of colour options, the MacBook is available in Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo. In the box, you’ll find the laptop along with a USB-C cable and a 20W USB-C power adapter.

MacBook Neo quick specs

Just in case you’re not familiar with the MacBook Neo, here’s a quick recap of its specs. Featuring an aluminium build, the budget MacBook weighs just 1.23kg, similar to the more expensive MacBook Air 13″.

Inside, it comes with a 13″ Liquid Retina Display (LCD) with a resolution of 2408×1506 pixels and a peak brightness of 500 nits. In addition, the laptop’s display supports the sRGB colour gamut rather than the wide P3 gamut on the MacBook Air. The MacBook Neo also loses out on Apple’s True Tone technology.

Powering the machine is Apple’s A18 Pro chip, similar to the iPhone 16 Pro, but it comes with a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU. This is paired with 8GB of RAM and SSD storage options of 256GB or 512GB.

Beyond this, you also get a 1080p webcam above the display, dual side-firing speakers with Spatial Audio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a multi-touch trackpad with gesture support but no Force Touch haptic feedback, and Apple’s Magic Keyboard, which isn’t backlit. You also get Touch ID if you pick the 512GB version.

Connectivity-wise, the MacBook Neo comes with WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 6, and two USB-C ports. Though only one of them supports USB 3, while the other one is a USB 2 port.

Keeping the lights on is a 36.5Wh battery that’s claimed to provide up to 16 hours of video streaming or 11 hours of web browsing.
