Xiaomi 11T flagship series is launching on 15 September, here’s what to expect

Xiaomi is introducing a number of new products next week which includes its upcoming Xiaomi 11T flagship smartphone series. Ahead of the launch, Xiaomi has dropped a couple of hints of what to expect from the Xiaomi 11T and the 11T Pro. Interestingly, the event is happening on the same day as Apple’s iPhone 13 event.

4 years of security updates

Xiaomi has confirmed that the new 11T and 11T Pro will come with at least 3 Android OS updates as well as 4 years of security updates. This would provide users greater peace of mind knowing that their devices can remain up to date with the latest security patches. This is similar to OnePlus’ recent commitment to offer 3 major Android updates and 4 years of security updates for its flagship models.

120W fast charging

As you would expect from most Chinese smartphone makers, Xiaomi is offering 120W HyperCharge technology on the new 11T series. The 120W fast charging tech has been introduced on the Xiaomi Mix 4 and the Mi 10 Ultra. On the Mix 4, its 4,500mAh battery can be charged from 0 to 100% in just 15 minutes. The question is, will Xiaomi include the 120W fast charger in the box, or will it be sold separately?

Improved audio experience

Since the Mi 10 series, Xiaomi has started paying more attention in the audio department by offering symmetrical stereo speakers for its flagship series. The balanced stereo experience is also retained on the current Mi 11. According to Xiaomi’s tweet, they are promising users the ultimate audio enjoyment and it would be interesting to see what they would have to offer.

At the moment, details for the rest of the hardware are quite limited and it isn’t clear if Xiaomi will include Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 888+ or would it settle for a Snapdragon 888. Traditionally, the “T” series is often priced lower than the first flagship series that was launched in the year.

Based on a leaked render shared by SnoopyTech, the device appears to come with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. This is an indication that the device might be using an LCD display instead of an AMOLED screen that usually offers an in-screen fingerprint sensor. If you look at the camera bump, the device would come with a triple-camera setup which includes a 108MP main camera.

All shall be revealed next Wednesday, 15th September at 8pm Malaysian time. You can watch the live event on Xiaomi Malaysia’s Facebook page.
