Lego lets you show off your rock and roll side with a Fender Stratocaster set

Lego announces the new Lego Ideas Fender Stratocaster set—based on the iconic Fender Stratocaster guitar. I might not be able to afford my own Stratocaster, I can get a mini-sized one made out of Lego for way cheaper—and it could also go neatly with other decor on a table.

The Stratocaster guitar has been famously played and owned by many music legends like Eric Clapton, The Beatles’ George Harrison, and Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour—to name a few. It’s also, to me, instantly recognisable as one of the most reliable guitars out there.

“Whether you are an old school rock and roll fan, an indie rock, R&B or heavy metal lover or just passionate about music, the Lego model of the 1970s FenderStratocaster is sure to be a crowd pleaser and includes the option to either build a red or black version of the iconic guitar,” wrote Lego in their press release.

The “guitar” itself features the details on the actual Stratocaster. It has six strings, pose-able tuning pegs and a tremolo arm. The set also features a folding display stand, and an accompanying foot pedal and amp. The amplifier’s back and top covers can be removed to show its inner speaker code, wiring and intricate details like the tubes, speaker and motherboard.

The set was made into reality after a Lego Ideas Music to Our Ears competition after Tomáš Letenay, a fan designer from Slovakia, entered the design. The reviews board at the Lego Group “loved the creation so much they commissioned it”.

“I used to play electric guitar when I was a teenager and I always dreamed of owning a Fender Stratocaster—but I could never afford it. The competition on Lego Ideas gave me the chance to create it in Lego bricks. The Stratocaster was my gateway into music and I love seeing my Lego design with the stand. I am hoping that other guitar fans get as much joy out of building it as I have,” said Letanay.

The Lego Ideas Fender Stratocaster set will be available from 1 October 2021, at Lego Certified Stores, including Shopee and Lazada, as well as Legoland. The retail price is RM499.90.
