Poco X3 GT is launching on 28 July, here’s what to expect

Xiaomi Malaysia has revealed that the Poco X3 GT will be announced next week. This is expected to be a new mid-range contender which is likely to be a step-up from the current Poco X3 Pro.

The Poco X3 GT will be officially launched via a live stream event on 28th July 2021 at 8pm (Malaysian time). You can watch it on the Poco Malaysia official Facebook page.

Rebadged Redmi Note 10 Pro?

The Poco X3 GT is speculated to be a rebadged Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G. This is a Chinese model and it’s different from the current Redmi Note 10 Pro that’s offered in Malaysia.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G features a 6.6″ Full HD+ LCD display with 120Hz refresh rate and it runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 1100 chip with 5G. The device can be configured with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

In China, Xiaomi has recently pushed an OTA update where users can “upgrade more RAM” with a virtual RAM feature. When enabled, it can convert some available storage space into 2GB extra RAM.

For taking pictures, the rear gets a triple-camera setup with a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 2MP macro camera. The device gets a large 5,000mAh battery which supports 67W fast-charging via USB-C. In China, the device is priced from CNY 1,699 (about RM1,100) for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model but we reckon it could be priced lower with the Poco branding.

After the launch on 28th July, we are guessing that the device could go on sale with an early-bird discount during the pre-order period. As a comparison, the Poco X3 Pro is currently priced at RM999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model and RM1,299 for the higher-spec 8GB RAM + 256GB storage combo.
