Nothing’s first audio product, the Ear (1) wireless earbuds, will be revealed officially on 27th July 2021. Unlike your typical wireless earphones, the Nothing Ear (1) gets a transparent design and also features active noise cancellation. For those who want to secure a pair early, Nothing is releasing their first 100 pairs today through an online bidding platform.

For two days, you can place a bid for the Nothing Ear (1) on StockX.com. As an early adopter, the first 100 units are serialised with an engraved number 1 to 100 based on the order of the final sale price. That means the highest bidder will get the #1 unit. The bid will close at 8.59pm (Malaysian time) on 21st July.

To get its fans excited, they have shown the charging case for the very first time. The case is square with round edges and it gets a transparent lid. It charges via USB-C and there’s a small button that could be used for hard reset and pairing.

At the time of writing, the highest bid is USD 504 which is more than RM2,100. That’s an insane amount of money considering the Ear (1) is set to go on sale for USD 99 (about RM418).

In a recent interview with TechCrunch, founder Carl Pei shared that there’s a reason why there are not many transparent consumer tech products. He said it is really hard to make it high quality. The insides of the product must look just as good as the outside.

The transparent earbuds will be revealed on 27th July at 9pm (Malaysian Time) at nothing.tech.
