COVID-19: Recoveries outnumber new cases for 7 days, new deaths drop below 70 for the first time in June

Malaysia has recorded 5,304 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 657,508. There are 64 new deaths reported, which is the lowest since 28th May and the death toll is now 3,908.

The Ministry of Health has reported 8,163 new recoveries and a total of 580,276 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 88.25% while the mortality rate is at 0.60%.

The total active cases remaining have dropped to 73,324. However, ICU usage remains high with 917 individuals and 452 require respiratory support.

Out of the 5,304 new cases today, 5 are imported while 5,299 are transmitted locally. Selangor continues to top the list with 1,973 cases, followed by Sarawak with 544 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 462 cases and Johor with 363 cases.

A total of 15 clusters have been identified today and 11 are workplace related. Below is the list of newly identified clusters:
