Despite going solo, the Honor 50 looks similar to the Huawei P50

The Honor 50 series is launching in mid-June and this is their second flagship smartphone after the company’s “divorce” from its parent company, Huawei. Ahead of the launch event, GSMArena has obtained a couple of high-resolution renders of the Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro. Although the company is now independent, its new phone design looks heavily inspired by the Huawei P50.

Honor 50 Pro

Both Honor 50 devices feature two large circular camera bumps which house a total of 3 cameras for the rear. The uppermost bump has a single large lens and the two remaining shooters are placed on the secondary bump.

The Pro model features a 108MP shooter while the standard model settles for a lower 50MP resolution. According to the label on the bump, both devices have an aperture of f/1.8 for the main camera.

We still don’t know the specs for the other cameras and we are guessing that it could be an ultra-wide-angle and a macro shooter. Typically, we would expect a telephoto camera at least for the Pro version.

According to GSMArena’s sources, the Honor 50 series will focus on vlogging so we can probably expect better front-facing cameras which aren’t shown here. As hinted by Honor Germany, the Honor 50 could be the brand’s first flagship smartphone to come with Google apps and services pre-installed. The last flagship series to launch with Google Mobile Services is the Honor 20 series which we released in 2019.

In terms of processors, the Honor 50 is expected to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chip while the Pro version will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. It is also rumoured there’s also a higher spec Honor 50 Pro+ and it will get a 120Hz Quad HD+ AMOLED display.

In terms of charging, some certifications have shown that the new series can support fast wired charging up to 100W. This is further supported by a leaked photo of an unreleased 100W Honor SuperCharge power adapter which still uses a USB-A port. However, some have claimed that the 100W charger will be sold separately and Honor will bundle a 66W power adapter in the box.
