Report: The Galaxy S21 will only be available for pre-order for less than a week

As we enjoy the holiday festivities, the folks over at Samsung are probably hard at work with preparations for the upcoming Galaxy S21 launch. We’ve already heard information that the next flagship device from Samsung might be launched as early as the 14th of January 2021—-and one of the most interesting things to expect will be support for the S Pen on the presumably range-topping Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Now, according to Sammobile, the pre-order period for the Galaxy S21 series will be shorter than expected, although Samsung has yet to comment on the information. Customers who are keen to pre-order their new Galaxy S21 series phones will only have less than a week to make their decisions, with a pre-order period from the 15th till the 21st of January 2021 suggested by sources.

This would be a period of just six days, from Friday till Thursday of the following week. A rather rushed period, especially when you consider the pre-order period of the Galaxy S20 ran for nearly two weeks during Q1 2020. It was the same for the Galaxy Note 20 series, so it isn’t really clear why Samsung is halving the pre-order period of the upcoming Galaxy S21.

Perhaps the Korean company has data that indicates the benefits of a shorter pre-order period, but this also means that customers will have significantly less time to take advantage of promotional deals. Pre-order periods for Samsung’s flagship smartphones traditionally mean that customers are eligible to order the device with additional freebies—possibly the S Pen (unless it’s included like the Note series), and probably the Galaxy Buds Pro.

Do note, however, that the pre-order period discussed above specifically pertains to the Korean market, although global releases are likely to have a similar pre-order period. To recap, based on the information we’ve had so far, the Galaxy S21 looks like it could be coming with a new, more sophisticated camera setup (particularly the Ultra), while we could be seeing Samsung’s answer to the Snapdragon 888—depending region, as usual.

We’ve also heard rumours that Samsung is planning to sell the phone without a charger and headphones—despite having poked fun at Apple’s similar decision with the iPhone 12. In any case, a global launch is predicted for the 14th of January 2021, and with the new information today, customers might have to be on their toes if they want to take advantage of Samsung’s customary pre-order promotional deals for the Galaxy S21.
