Malaysia has recorded 62 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 10,031. Fortunately, there are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 128 for 15 straight days.
The Ministry of Health has recorded 26 new recoveries and a total of 9,235 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is 92.06% while the mortality rate is 1.28%.
There are currently 668 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 15 patients are currently in ICU and 3 of them require respiratory support.
Out of the 62 new COVID-19 cases reported today, 61 are transmitted locally and there’s one imported case which is a Malaysian that arrived from India.
Sabah has recorded 59 new cases which consist of 48 cases from the Benteng cluster, 4 from a Lahad Datu hospital staff screening, 3 through screening of arrivals from Peninsular Malaysia, 2 from a health clinic screening in Lahad Datu, one from the Pulau cluster and another case that was screened at a Sandakan prison.
In Kedah, there’s one new case from the Sungai cluster and another new case in Penang who is a close contact of case 9397 and 9459. The Benteng cluster currently has 472 positive cases while the Pulau cluster now has 10 positive cases. Meanwhile, the Sungai cluster has accumulated 59 positive cases.
As of today, the total number of infections has hit 5 digits, while the number of active cases continues to rise to 668. Everyone is urged to comply with the SOP to curb the spread of COVID-19.
