Proton X70 available for subscription from RM1,975/month

Malaysia’s popular SUV, the Proton X70, is now available for subscription from Flux. With the Merdeka Promo, they are waiving the reservation fee of RM75 during sign up and you can drive home the X70 without paying a hefty down payment.

According to Flux, they are offering the premium model in 3 colour options – Snow White, Jet Grey and Space Grey. From the listing, it appears to be the latest Proton X70 2020 CKD model that comes with a 7-speed DCT and power tailgate. Since this is the premium model, you’ll get the Advanced Driver Assistance Package which includes lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring.

Below are the monthly fees for the Proton X70 depending on subscription period:

Month-to-Month – RM4,331/month
12 Months – RM2,599/month
24 Months – RM2,251/month
36 Months – RM1,975/month

The above subscription fees are based on a monthly mileage of 1,250KM (15,000KM per year). If you plan to drive more, you can bump it up to 2,000KM per month for an extra RM286/month or go unlimited for an extra RM955/month.

During sign up, you’ll need to pay a one-time start fee of RM3,239 and after that you’ll just need to pay the monthly subscription amount. The subscription covers road tax, insurance, maintenance and Flux’s concierge service. The fees will be charged to your saved credit card.

According to their comparison, you’ll pay less in the 1st year compared to owning the car with a typical 5-year hire-purchase loan. That’s mainly because you won’t have to fork out 10% down payment and to pay for servicing or renewals that are associated with normal car ownership.

If you do like the car, you can keep the vehicle with its Subscribe to Own program. Before starting the subscription, you can lock-in a Guaranteed Future Value (GFV) for the X70 Premium at RM80,888. This is how much it would cost you to purchase the car after 3 years of subscription. Flux will also assist with the ownership transfer arrangements and will connect you to the respective financial institutions if you need to take up a loan.
