Honor is committed to delivering Android Q update for the Honor 20 series

With the recent ban from the US government, consumers are uncertain when it comes to Huawei and Honor smartphones. A couple of local retailers have started offering full refund and money back guarantees if their devices lose access to Google Play Store and services.

For the new Honor flagship lineup, it appears that the Huawei sub-brand is confident that it will continue to receive future operating system upgrades including the upcoming Android Q update.

It was reported that Honor UK has said despite the challenges faced, their smartphones which include the Honor 20 Lite, Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro will continue to receive critical security patches and future Android updates. They added that anyone who has already bought, or is about to buy an Honor smartphone, can continue to access the world of apps as they have always done. As usual, all devices will continue to be covered by their manufacturer’s warranty and will receive full service support accordingly.

The statement also says ” Our most popular current devices, the Honor 20 series Honor 20 Lite, Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro, will be able to access Android Q.”

It didn’t elaborate on how it will roll out the updates if the ban is imposed after the 90-day delay. On top of that, there’s also no mention of other models such as the Honor View 20, View 10 and Honor 10. During MWC Shanghai, Honor president, George Zhao, had shared that it will release its first flagship 5G smartphone before the end of this year.
