Samsung Galaxy A6 A6+ 2018

After introducing the Galaxy A8 and A8+ (2018) early this year, Samsung appears to be releasing two more mid-range smartphones which could be more affordable. Based on recent leaks, these are the Galaxy A6 and A6+ (2018) and they share similar screen sizes of 5.6″ and 6.0″ with an 18.5:9 Infinity Display.

The device you’re seeing here is the larger Galaxy A6+ (2018) which comes with a 6.0″ display. In terms of design, it looks more like a Galaxy J series especially with its metal back and curved antenna bands.

For the bigger A6+, it also gets a dual-camera setup for the rear but it isn’t clear if it offers just bokeh effects like the Galaxy J7+ or if it has telephoto zoom. Similar to the new Galaxy A8 and Galaxy S9 series, the fingerprint sensor is mounted underneath the camera lens.

The specs are still quite sketchy but it looks like both models will come with a FullHD+ resolution display (2220×1080) on a Super AMOLED panel. Under the hood, it is said to be running on a 14nm Exynos 7870 processor which is the same unit that’s powering last year’s Galaxy J5/J7 Pro. It’s expected to come with 4GB of RAM with storage options of 32GB or 64GB on board. Do note that these specs are yet to be confirmed.

Roland Quandt has also revealed several leaked cases for the Galaxy A6 and A6+ (2018) which matches the photos provided by Anna Bogdańska. As you can see, the smaller Galaxy A6 gets just a single camera at the rear. Unlike the Galaxy A8 and A8+ (2018), there’s only a single selfie camera on the Galaxy A6 (2018) series.

The Galaxy A8 and A8+ are currently priced at RM1,799 and RM2,499 respectively. It is interesting to see how low can these two new mid-rangers go when it arrives in Malaysia.
