Samsung rewards you for talking to your phone

Bixby is Samsung’s very own virtual assistant which was introduced together with the Galaxy S8/S8+ and it’s also available on the Galaxy Note8. Not only you can command your phone using your voice, you can use it to set customised actions such as running multiple apps or tasks at a single command.

It also gets smarter the more you use it. If it doesn’t get it right the first time, you can teach it so that it will know how to respond the next time you issue the same command.

To encourage more people to use Bixby, Samsung is running a Bixby Level Up campaign where you can get rewarded with Samsung Reward points.

Each time you use and teach Bixby, you will gain XP points which you can accumulate to unlock the next level. For each level up, Samsung will give you Samsung Rewards Points that you can use to redeem in the Samsung Pay app. Some of these redeemable items include vouchers for ride sharing, online shopping, F&B, movies and selected Samsung accessories that are offered from time to time.

For starters, you gain about 50-300 Samsung reward points for each Bixby level up and you can earn more than 1,000 points for each level up on its highest tier. As an added bonus, you will unlock a new Bixby background colour when you reach Bixby Level 5, 7 and 9.

You can earn Bixby XP by simply talking to Bixby. After each completed task, you can earn 1 XP if you feedback “Great” and you can earn 10 or 20 XP if you hit the “Teach Me” button. Suggesting phrases from your history will earn you 5 XP.

To join this campaign, go to the Bixby Home page on your device, tap on the 3 dots in the top right corner and select events. Then tap on the “Get Samsung Reward Points” event and click on the “participate” button.

This Bixby Level Up campaign runs from 16 January until 15 April 2018. Take note that you will only be given points for every Bixby Level Up achieved after you’ve participated in the campaign. You won’t get any points for previous levels accomplished and all points earned will expire after 6 months. Since it uses Samsung Rewards, you’ll need to have a Samsung Pay account to participate.
