honor 8 Pro now on pre-order for less than RM2,000 in Malaysia

UPDATE: honor 8 Pro official launch is happening on 11 July 2017.

The honor 8 Pro is coming soon to Malaysia and a retailer had started offering pre-orders last week at RM2,099. Turns out that this affordable flagship phablet is now even more affordable and it comes with additional freebies thrown in.

According to a Huawei & Honor store at Sunway Pyramid, the honor 8 Pro is now going for RM1,999 and it comes with undisclosed freebies worth RM636. The store at IOI City Mall has also revised its pricing to RM1,999 and they are offering free gifts and cash vouchers to those who place their pre-order. So far there’s no exact date for its official availability but we reckon it should be available in the next few weeks to come.

UPDATE: honor 8 Pro is officially launching in Malaysia on 11 July 2017. We expect sales to commence shortly after that.

To recap on the specs, the honor 8 Pro is a large screen phablet with a 5.7″ Quad HD display and it packs similar hardware as Huawei’s top of the line P10 Plus. Underneath its full metal body is a Kirin 960 Octa-Core processor that’s mated to 6GB of RAM. It carries 64GB of onboard storage which is expandable via microSD.

It also features a dual-camera system with two 12MP cameras that are dedicated for colour and monochrome. Meanwhile, selfies are handled by an 8MP front camera. Powering the device is a large 4,000mAh battery which is rated to last up to 2 days on a single charge. It also supports fast charging via USB Type-C using a 9V/2A power brick.

The honor 8 Pro runs on EMUI 5.1 that’s based on Android 7.0 Nougat. This is also a dual-SIM device which supports microSD expansion on its 2nd SIM slot. So what do you think? Is this the best phone you can get for under RM2,000? Let us know in the comments below.
