Xiaomi now has a pair of USB Type-C earphones with active noise cancellation

Xiaomi has produced a couple of impressive value for money earphones that sound better than the ones that come with your phone. With several smartphones going jack-less including Xiaomi’s very own Mi 6 flagship, the Chinese brand has finally introduced its first ever USB Type-C in-ear headphones.

Not only it supports the new interface, Xiaomi has also added active noise cancellation for a better music experience.

The Mi USB Type-C in-ear headphones come with a 1.2m long cable and it’s partially braided from the Type-C connector to its middle control module. The earpiece itself is made of titanium alloy with a frequency response of 20 to 40,000Hz and a 32 Ohm impedance. Like its current Mi In-Ear Headphone Pro HD, it also Hi-Res audio certified.

Unlike typical noise cancelling headphones, there’s no need to charge as it draws power from the phone’s USB Type-C port. When enabled, it can suppress noise above 25dB with a frequency range between 50 – 2000Hz. This makes it perfect to drown out unwanted background noise during your commute or while taking a flight.

Out of the box, you’ll get a hard case that comes with a soft pouch and spare ear buds in various sizes. What’s impressive is the price. The Xiaomi USB Type-C earphones with ANC is going for 299 CNY which is about RM186.60 if converted directly. As a comparison, JBL’s USB Type-C based headphones with noise cancellation is going for US$199 which is about RM856.

According to the product page, it currently supports the Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi 5S, Mi 5S Plus, Mi Mix, Mi Note 2 and Mi 6. Users are urged to update to the latest MIUI version before using. Interestingly, the Mi 5C and Redmi Pro isn’t supported.

At the moment it’s only going on sale in China and you probably can get it from local grey importers very soon.
