WhatsApp Calling gets two new features in the latest beta version

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging services in the world, with over 1 billion users worldwide. In Malaysia, it has practically replaced the traditional SMS platform when it comes to text messaging with others.

Now, the Facebook-owned company is extending their services and adding even more features to WhatsApp Calling.

WhatsApp recently announced that people are making more than 100 million calls every day on WhatsApp (that’s about 1,100 calls a second) worldwide. With so many people on this calling service, it was only a matter of time before the company added more traditional calling features to WhatsApp Calling.

Today, with the latest WhatsApp beta version, the service adds two new features to WhatsApp calling: Call Back and Voicemail. Both of these features kick into action when a WhatsApp call you make goes unanswered.

Call Back is a simple feature that lets you redial the number should your call go unanswered or declined. The second feature, Voicemail, lets you record and leave a voice message instantly from the call screen. While the receiver gets the message like a regular voice recording, this new feature makes it easier for the caller to leave a message instantly.

If you want to try out these features, you can either wait for these features to roll out to the app in the Play Store or App Store, or if you’re impatient you can download the APK here.

Pretty nifty, if you ask me, but the one we really want is video calling. So far, WhatsApp has not implemented this in their service yet, but there have been rumours rumbling about it coming soon.
