The Galaxy S6 camera is awesome. Here are 5 reasons why

This post is brought to you by the Samsung Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 edge – Created from the ground up, defines What’s Next.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge boast improved cameras for both front and back. The current GALAXY Note 4 was proven to be a stellar performer with a 16MP main camera. Now on the latest flagship, it gets a similar main camera but Samsung has tweaked it further for better pictures at any time.

For those who love to take selfies, the front now gets a better 5MP camera that should capture more detail than the front 3.7MP unit on the GALAXY Note 4. So how does the Galaxy S6 compare against the GALAXY Note 4 and its former GALAXY S5 flagship? Read on to find out.

See better in the dark

Taking pictures with very little light is challenging especially when flash isn’t allowed. With a faster f/1.9 aperture, the Galaxy S6 is much improved over its predecessor producing less noisy images while maintaining as much details as possible. The pictures below were taken in a simulated low light box.

Blur-Free Photos

Taking sharp pictures would require a pair of steady hands. With Smart Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), the Galaxy S6 is able to reduce the amount of shakiness that often leads to blurry pictures. Tested on a moving platform with a smart phone mount, you’ll notice a much steadier shot with the OIS enabled GALAXY Note 4 and Galaxy S6.

Wide Selfies made Better

The GALAXY Note 4 was the first Samsung smart phone with a rather cool 120 degrees Wide Selfie mode. Now you can capture a larger group without the need of a troublesome selfie stick. With a higher resolution 5MP front camera and a faster f/1.9 aperture, the Galaxy S6 takes better selfies than before.

Great Pictures taken Instantly

When taking a shot, the Galaxy S6 is much snappier and you can launch the camera app at any moment by double pressing on the home button. With its Auto Real Time HDR, you no longer need to switch on HDR when required. Looking at the same indoor shots below, you’ll notice less shadows at the ceiling without over-brightening the entire image for the Galaxy S6.

More control when you need it

For photography enthusiasts, you’ll be happy to know that the Galaxy S6 offers an array of controls for better fine tuning. For more controls, the camera interface has a Pro mode which allows manual adjustments for White Balance, Exposure and even manual focusing. Also new is a tracking auto focus which keeps your subject in focus for a blur-free capture.

The Galaxy S6 may have the same 16MP pixel count as its current GALAXY S5 and GALAXY Note 4 but it is clear that Samsung has packed more features and tweaks to make photography more hassle free. The Galaxy S6 will be launched in Malaysia on 2nd April so stay tuned for the latest details coming soon.
