UPDATE: Apparently there’s a reason why the X5Max for Malaysia is thicker than its original 4.75mm model. The extra 0.33mm gives way for a much larger 2,300mAh battery which offers 15% higher capacity.

Recently touted as one of the slimmest smartphones in the market, vivo’s X5Max is finally hitting Malaysian shores, but isn’t as thin as they originally claimed.

Coming in at 5.08mm thick (as opposed to the previously claimed 4.75mm) the smartphone is the first smartphone with built in Hi-Fi standard 2.0 and to manages to fit a 3.5mm audio jack on that slim frame.

Under the hood, the vivo X5Max will have a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 mated to 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage that can support up to 128GB of storage via it’s microSD slot which also doubles as a secondary SIM card slot. It runs on vivo’s Funtouch OS 2.0 which is based on Android 4.4 KitKat and it sports a 5.5″ Super AMOLED 1080p display as well as a 13 megapixel rear camera with a wide F2.0 aperture and 6P lens.

The front snapper is a 5 megapixel wide-angle lens for those who like selfies. Juicing up the X5 Max is a non-removable 2,000mAh2,300mAh capacity battery

The vivo X5Max will be hitting the market effective immediately and will be retailed at RM 1,799.
