HTC blames One M9 overheating issue on pre-release software

Yesterday we published that the HTC One M9 was running way hotter than it’s rivals, but Jeff Gorden, HTC’s Global Communications guy refuted overheating claims by saying that it was tested prematurely using pre-release software. Could its Taiwan launch delays relate to this?

The overheating issue was raised by tweakers.net and they clarified that they were using review units provided by HTC, as shown by the twitter logs below, after publishing that the HTC One M9 was reaching temperatures of a blistering 55.4 celcius during testing.
According to Jeff, any benchmark results are irrelevant if it isn’t using final software, and he urges everyone to wait for the final release before making any conclusions. The HTC One M9 was found to be a top performer, scoring over 52,000 on Antutu. But we do wonder how different the device will perform with their optimised software that’s claimed to be more thermal efficient.
