There’s a high-spec version of the Galaxy S8+ that you probably can’t buy in Malaysia

The Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ will be hitting the shelves in Malaysia starting next month. Spec-wise, it’s pretty top notch as it gets a newer 10nm processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.

If you’re looking for something more powerful, there’s an even better version of the Galaxy S8+ that you probably can’t find in Malaysia.

Similar to the Galaxy Note7, Samsung is also making a Galaxy S8+ that comes with a whopping 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. This was initially spotted on China’s TENAA certification database and now it’s officially listed on Samsung Korea’s website.

In Korea, Samsung is offering Samsung DeX docking station if you purchase a Galaxy S8+ 128GB edition. Apart from the bigger RAM and larger storage, the rest of the hardware is the same as the regular Galaxy S8+.

To have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is impressive and it would definitely cost a lot more than the standard 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option. In China, such specs are important as the competition are obsessed with putting more RAM and storage for their latest models. To have 128GB onboard storage also minimises the need to use a microSD slot, allowing you to use two SIM cards full time without worrying about storage. The Galaxy C9 Pro is a prime example of a Chinese-targeted phone as it’s their first mid-range smartphone to come with 6GB RAM.

If Samsung Malaysia decides to bring in this higher-spec model, would you get it? Considering the Galaxy S8+ with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage is going for RM3,699, expect this 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version to fetch well over RM4,000.
