Maxis will start offering pre-orders tomorrow and the first 1,000 customers will get a free wireless charger and screen protector worth RM280. Samsung Malaysia will also offer pre-orders from 3rd to 12th April on their website and they are also giving out a wireless charger while stocks last.
For the Malaysian market, Samsung Malaysia is also offering a premium personalised pick-up service for its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge owners. If you have a problem with the device, there’s a dedicated hotline that’s open 24/7 and they will arrange for a free device pick up for repairs and serving.
To recap on the specs, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge features a high resolution 5.1″ Quad HD Super AMOLED display that pushes a high pixel density of 577ppi (pixels per inch). For the Galaxy S6 edge variant, it gets a double curve design, which is an evolution of its curve display tech that debut on the Galaxy Note Edge. Underneath its metal and glass unibody design, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge runs on a powerful 14nm 64-bit Octa-Core Exynos 7420 processor that’s mated to 3GB of DDR4 RAM.
With its new fresh design, both models now lack a removable battery, microSD expansion slot and water/dust resistance capability. It comes with 32GB of UFS 2.0 storage and Samsung is also throwing additional 100GB of OneDrive cloud storage for 2 years. For taking pictures, both Galaxy S6 variants feature a 16MP main shooter with OIS and f/1.9 lens while selfies are taken with a higher 5MP front shooter that also has a fast f/1.9 lens.
Keeping the lights on is a rather small 2,550mAh capacity battery for the normal Galaxy S6 while the edge gets slightly larger 2,600mAh unit. Despite having a power intensive display, the Galaxy S6 edge manages to pull about 12 hours of use with close to 5 hours of on-screen time from its tiny battery. The powerful processor and energy efficient storage does help in power conservation but you’ll still need to charge mid-day if you intend on using it extensively until late evening. Apart from its adaptive fast charging, the Galaxy S6 models also support native wireless charging without the need of optional sleeves and covers.
