Huawei Mate X7 Malaysia: Specs and features

One of the main highlights of the Huawei Mate X7 has to be its durability. Now rated at IP58 and IP59 for dust and water resistance, up from its predecessor’s IPX8 rating, the Mate X7 is among the foldable smartphones with the highest IP rating on the market, alongside the Honor Magic V5.
That’s not all, the Mate X7 also sports Huawei’s Crystal Armour Kunlun Glass and 3-layer composite structure, which promise to make the phone tough enough to survive your everyday accidental drops and dunks.

Design-wise, the Huawei Mate X7 is offered in three shades, namely the Brocade White that features a light-woven brocade texture on its back, along with Nebula Red and Classic Black with vegan leather back covers.
Weighing 236g, the Mate X7 measures 4.5mm in thickness when unfolded and 9.5mm when folded. This puts the Huawei foldable on the heavier and thicker side of the scale when compared to key rivals such as the Honor Magic V5, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Oppo Find N5.

In terms of displays, the Mate X7 sports a 6.49″ 120HZ LTPO OLED cover display with 2444×1080 pixels and a 3,000 nits peak brightness. Open up the phone, and you’ll be looking at an 8″ 120Hz LTPO OLED panel that pushes out 2416×2210 pixels and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. Powering the device is Huawei’s Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
For imaging, you continue to get a triple-camera setup at the back. This includes a 50MP OIS-equipped main camera with a variable aperture range of between f/1.9 and f/4.0. Working alongside it is a 40MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle shooter, and a 50MP f/2.2 telephoto sensor with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS. For selfies or video calls, you get two 8MP punch-hole cameras within the cover and main displays.

Keeping lights on for the Huawei Mate X7 is a 5,600mAh battery, up from its predecessor’s 5,110mAh cell. Charging speeds, on the other hand, remain at 66W via USB-C and 50W using a wireless charger.
The Mate X7 is equipped with WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC, out of the box, and runs on Huawei’s EMUI 15.0 software.
