Honor Malaysia has today announced its collaboration with MyDigital ID via a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony. This makes Honor the first smartphone maker to support the government’s initiative to boost digital identity adoption.

Through this partnership, the MyDigital ID application will be pre-installed on new Honor devices, starting with the newly launched Honor X9d 5G. This enables users to complete registration seamlessly through biometrics, eliminating the need for additional app downloads or complex procedures.

As part of the government’s digital transformation agenda, the initiative targets 15 million Malaysians to be registered with MyDigital ID by the end of this year. The MoU was signed in the presence of Honor South Pacific President, Justin Li, and MyDigital ID CEO, Nik Hisham Nik Ibrahim.

Justin Li stated that the effort to pre-install the MyDigital ID application on Honor’s new devices is intended to make it easier for citizens to register and access digital services from both the government and the private sector.

“By including the MyDigital ID app directly on Honor’s new smartphone, we are simplifying the registration process and making it easier for more Malaysians to access important government applications systems and private services without the need for downloading additional apps or complex registration. Honor is proud to be the first smartphone brand to support the Malaysian government initiative” said Li.

Meanwhile, MyDigital ID Chief Executive Officer, Nik Hisham Nik Ibrahim, stated that this collaboration enables users to enjoy immediate access to digital identity as soon as they unbox their devices.

“In the future, we hope to expand such collaborations to other connected devices and platforms, making the user experience to access and use MyDigital ID easy and simple. Partnerships such as this are proof that when government and industry work together, Malaysia thrives. It is through collaborations like today’s that we lay the foundations of a stronger digital future — one that is secure, inclusive, and globally competitive,” he said.

In addition to enhancing convenience, this integration is also seen as an effort to help reduce the risk of fraud and ensuring safer access to digital services.

For those who may not already know, MyDigital ID is an identification system that provides a single sign-on method for online identity verification, announced in April last year. MyDigital ID will also serve as the single sign-on method for the MyJPJ and MyBayar PDRM applications.
