Redmi, a sub-brand of Xiaomi has unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the Redmi K80 and the K80 Pro. Both feature similar designs, but the Pro model does feature spec gains in aspects such as its chipset, camera, and charging speeds.

Redmi K80 packed with last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Now let’s get to the similarities first. Aside from the similar looks, Redmi has also fitted both models with a 6.67-inch OLED display which pushes out 3200 x 1440 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 3,200 nits.

However, in the performance department, the regular K80 gets Qualcomm’s flagship smartphone chip from 2023, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and can be paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

In the camera department, the Redmi K80 is fitted with a 50MP f/1.6 main shooter with a 1/1.55″ sensor, along with an 8MP ultrawide camera.

Battery size has also been boosted to 6,550mAh, with charging speeds rated at 90W via a USB-C cable. The Redmi K80 runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2, built atop Android 15.

The phone is protected against dust, as well as water at up to 2.5 metres deep and 30 minutes long, thanks to its IP68 rating.

Redmi K80 Pro powered by the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Redmi has equipped the K80 Pro with Qualcomm’s latest flagship smartphone chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. To keep it running cool, there’s also the 3D dual loop vapour chamber.

Furthermore, the K80 Pro also gets the brand’s D1 chip which can help boost frame rates during heavy games and even distribute the Snapdragon chip’s workload to aid in reducing power consumption.

At the back of the Redmi K80 Pro is a tri-camera setup, featuring a 50MP f/1.6 main shooter with a 1/1.55″ sensor and OIS, a 50MP f/2.0 telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom, along with a 32MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera.

Battery-wise, you get a 6,000mAh cell which supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

There’s also a Lamborghini-inspired special edition K80 Pro

Redmi has also collaborated with Lamborghini to create a special edition model based on the K80 Pro with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

Inspired by the Lamborghini Huaracán GT3 Evo2, the Redmi K80 Pro Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse special edition is offered with two colour options – one that combines green, black, and red colour elements, with the other option blends black and red.

Aside from sporting the “Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse” and “Huracan GT3 Evo2” logos, it’s also stamped with a “63” badge, signifying Lamborghini’s founding year of 1963.

This special edition phone also comes with Lamborghini branded packaging, a phone case, and a 120W charging adapter, along with matching themes and wallpapers.

Redmi K80 series pricing and availability in China

Sales for the Redmi K80 series have begun in China, with the K80 being priced from RMB2,499 (~RM1,534) to RM3,599 (~RM2,209), while the K80 Pro can be had from RMB3,699 (~RM2,270) to RMB4,799 (~RM2,945).

The Lamborghini special edition model sits at the top of the range with a RMB4,999 (~RM3,068) price tag.
