Much has been said about the Smart #1 electric SUV coming to Malaysia later this year, and in anticipation of it Smart Malaysia has finally officially launched the Hello Smart app in Malaysia.
Smart has big things to say about what is ultimately another app for future Smart #1 users to download on their smartphone. Calling it a ‘ground breaking digital experience’, the app features a simply and user friendly four-tab layout for ease of access. There’s the Discover tab where you can find the latest news, events, a community page and eBrochures, while the Vehicle tab lets you personalise your Smart #1, access real time vehicle information like battery status, charging status, location and more, as well as check your monthly payments and apply for loans, booking services and more.
The last two tabs on the Hello Smart app meanwhile are the eMall tab where you’ll find a virtual store if you’re keen on kitting out your car with more Smart merchandise and accessories. You’ll also be able to earn loyalty points when you buy stuff off the app which can then be redeemed for rewards. Lastly, there’s the Profile tab which houses a summary of all the Hello Smart app function with personalisation options.
“In our quest for a user-friendly digital journey, smart Malaysia is committed to boosting the connection between smart vehicle owners and their cars. We are thrilled to introduce the Hello smart App, which takes integration to the next level, keeping users in the loop and connected.
We believe this app will deepen our owners’ affection for the brand, offering an innovative and all encompassing experience,” – Zhang Qiang, Smart Malaysia CEO
Other features of note on the Hello Smart app includes a live Charging Map. Smart claims that they have worked with key stakeholders in the local EV charging ecosystem to make the Hello Smart app the first app by an automotive brand to feature a comprehensive EV charging map in Malaysia with real time charging point information. The One-Stop Service Home Charging Solution feature meanwhile streamlines the process of buying and installing SmartCharge Home Chargers for those looking to get one for their home. Smart says that the Hello Smart app will be getting more updates as time passes too, with the next major update to the Hello Smart app coming in Q4 this year.
As a quick recap, Smart is set to launch two configurations of its upcoming electric SUV, a cheaper Smart #1 Premium and the sportier Smart #1 Premium. We’ve already covered the Smart #1 in full detail here, but essentially it’s a result of the joint effort between Geely and Mercedes-Benz. Featuring a single rear motor capable of 268hp and 343Nm of torque, you’ll be able to speed down the straights from zero to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds while the 66kWh battery provides a range of up to 440km on the WLTP cycle. Set for a local debut some time in Q4 2023, you can already book the Smart #1 through the Hello Smart app by placing a refundable RM1,000 booking fee.
