The Nothing Phone (1) offically went on sale in Malaysia at midnight today through apparel brand Crossover. This is a limited drop and all units including the original accessories have already sold out at the time of writing.
According to Crossover’s online store, they were offering the Nothng Phone (1) 8GB RAM + 256GB storage version for RM2,399 and buyers could get it via Atome’s Buy-Now-Pay-Later (BNPL) plan for RM799.67 for 3 months. Both black and white versions were listed and they also offered the Phone (1) case at RM49 as well as the Phone (1) screen protector for RM69.
If you’re interested to get the Nothing Phone (1), retailer DirectD is currently accepting pre-orders for the device with limited slots available for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. The retailer has updated the listing which now mentions 10am 1st August 2022 as its expected availability.
Besides DirectD, Senheng has also shared teasers that it will soon offer the Nothing Phone (1). They already have a product page which interetingly lists out the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model. ThunderMatch has also listed the Nothing Phone (1) on its online store and they are offering both 8GB and 12GB RAM models.
When the Phone (1) was first announced, Nothing has listed the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage version for RM2,699. However, it appears that Nothing has removed the highest-spec option from the Malaysian website leaving just the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option. This is probably due to the fact that the 12GB RAM model will be released much later as confirmed by Carl Pei. In the UK, there’s a lower spec 8GB RAM + 128GB storage version but it isn’t offered here.
To recap, the Nothing Phone (1) is a premium-looking mid-range smartphone that uses a combination of aluminium and glass, while the rear gets a “transparent” design with an illuminated Glyph Interface. It features a 6.55″ Full HD+ OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and it runs on a Snapdragon 778G+ processor. For taking pictures, it gets two 50MP cameras for the rear for wide and ultra-wide shots, while the front settles for a 16MP selfie camera.
There’s no IP68-rated water resistance but you do get wireless charging and stereo speakers on the Phone (1). The device doesn’t come bundled with a charger and all you’ll get is just the phone and the USB-C cable in the box. Nothing is promising 3 years of major Android OS updates and 4 years of security patches. You can learn more about the Nothing smartphone in our announcement post.
